03. LineageOS versus e OS

LineageOS is in the first about user expirience
/e/ is basically LineageOS , but tweaked for more privacy
you can use LineageOS IF you are carefull with what apps you install

pro & contra

Pros for /e/:
1. Simpler installation - no need to seperately install play stores and whatnot
2. Better privacy (from google)
Pros for Lineage OS:
1. Better and more accurate documentation
2. Can get live help through an IRC channel
3. Mainstream with wide acceptance. (while /e/ is more niche) => higher chances it will be around in five or ten years.

/e/ has a selection of pre-installed Apps which makes it easier usable ‘out-of-the-box’.
you could give a phone running /e/ to your parents or grandparents with much less hassle afterwards
/e/ takes LineageOS as a base, throw out as much Google stuff as they can
to improve privacy (which is not the top priority for LineageOS)

main phone is on lineage, since I only use trusted open source apps on there.
for a phone to use less trusted apps that may need google services, /e/ is great because it comes with microg (foss play service replacement) .
they also have a really good appstore that doesnt depend on google, unlike aurora store.
you can create an account with /e/ and have stuff sync a bit like google, but i haven’t looked into that since I only use it on my secondary phone

lineage is better for privacy, since it doesnt contain any google related stuff (microg) and doesnt phone home out of the box, which i dont really mind because /e/ seems like a good company, but id rather have the peace of mind that no unsolicited connections are being made out of the box
