01.smartphone privacy overview

With 99,9 % of all people, a smartphone equals a privacy nightmare.
Most people have no clue and/or just don’t care.
But even if they would, one has also to be very tech savy , ad spent a lot of time, to overcome this problem (amap).

- enforce censorship
- can be turned into a spy device if needed
- can be turned into a forensics / juridical tool

tracking & data on your smartphone

google & apple track everything :
- location tracing : every place you go
- contact tracing
- internet usage (o.a. browsing history , social media data)
- call history
- foto analysis (what are you interesseted in)
- payments
- ? documents stored , what you work on

device fingerprints

  • each phone/device has several unique id :
    - ==IMEI== : unique device number , manufacture data etc
    all Google authorized apps (with admin) can access your phone IMEI (idem Apple)
    - MAC
    and easily correlating unique data :
    - SIM numbers / data ( waaronder : ICCID , IMSI )
    - telephone nummbers
    - google/apple account ID ‘s , required to use the OS / apps
    - corresponding email addresses

are potential spy devices - and quite easily to do so

  • geolocation tracking
  • micro and camera , can be turned on remotely
  • telemetry collecting

makes it easy for cross device tracking

wifi , BT & NRF all have discovery protocols

  • one of these services uses browser cookies ,
    these allow google services to track you, even if these cookies have been dissabled
