windows guest volume letter assignment to the shared folder
For VirtualBox versions 2 > 5 : Windows, regardless of version, always mapped this folder as drive E:
Since vbx 6.x this is no longer the case , the Windows Guest now assigns the drive letter to the shared folder(s)
you need to enable the “Auto Mount option”
To do so manuyally (fixed)
=> use “Mount point” option in vm settings and set it to “E:” (without a path given)
both “Auto Mount” & “Mount point” options can be set in the vm settings while it is running
vm > menu > devices > share folder > shared folder settings
installation logs
will be in the guest os , the lcoaction depends on type of guest os
ubuntu guest : directory /var/log , with prefix “vbox”
window guest : the root of the boot disk (usually C:\vboxpostinstall.log)
The standard names are: vboxadd-install.log, vboxadd-setup.log, vboxpostinstall.log
