Mv command

the mv command is used to :
- move files
and/or
- rename files

is usefull for a single or a few files
but not so convenient for multiple files :

mmv
has the ability to easily rename a lot of files by accepting wildcards in the command. This allows you to easily append or remove certain patterns from file names, or even arrange text within the names.
