purpose dconf-editor

a more easy way to change some settings , then to look in the quadrillion config files
a tiny bit of the window regkey approch ,
a difference is that no data is actually stored in a db , dconf-editor serves as a wrapper around config files as to more easilt edit some values

install dconf-editor

sudo apt-get install dconf-editor

usage

there is a desktop entry in the menu

Expanding the subitems can be done by clicking on the little triangle before an item.
The last used “registry” entry is how in a path like way in the window title
you can click on the “looking glass” icon left most in the path to go to “home”
